seven ways to unpack your life

i.
slice the onion so thinly
into the iris of your eye;
watch yourself cry

ii.
pay someone to listen
to every single detail until
the words can be digested

iii.

start to unpack and at the
slight twinge, throw
everything back in

iv.
heal – the path to healing
is not a straight line,
rather a frantic traffic circle

v.
compartmentalize every
last inadequacy; lick
your lips wet with them

vi.
stay stagnant; don’t bother
pulling out the weeds:
you can’t grow out of them

vii.
survival is the key
but maybe I’m sick
of barely surviving
